Please click the " News & Opinions " tab for information regarding the Sunset Review of the TSBPE.

In an effort to address the extreme demands currently placed upon our industry, the TSBPE is waiving continuing education requirements for licenses that expire on February 28, 2021 - March 31, 2021 & April 30, 2021. Our Terms and Conditions state that monies paid are to be applied to another class - no refunds, because of the processing fees we incur. However, due to the circumstances at hand - we will refund monies that were prepaid, upon the receipt of a written request (e-mail or letter). Our bank and credit card processing fees will be deducted from your refund.

Confused about the new TSBPE class requirements?

  1. You do not need to take any classes to register as an Apprentice.
  2. If you have a drain cleaner or residential utility installer registration, you are required to take continuing education.
  3. Unless exempted, the 24hrs of training required for individuals wanting to take the Tradesman exam, is three separate classes - an OSHA 10hr class, an 8hr Residential (IRC) Code class and a 6hr continuing education class (the same class all the other license holders are taking) = 24hrs.
  4. Unless exempted, the 48hrs of training required for individuals wanting to take the Journeyman exam, is the same three separate classes required for the Tradesman, plus two additional classes - an 18hr  Plumbing (IPC / UPC) Code class and a second 6hr continuing education class = 24hrs. This 24hrs plus the 24hrs of Tradesman classes you took = 48hrs.
  5. You do not have to take all your classes from the same provider, take the classes as you need them and in any order that you want - make sure you receive a certificate for each individual class you complete.
